Where are they now - Dez White

Helping the youth at camp.........

Michael Fontanez, a 13-year-old student at Garden City's Mercer Middle School, is a wide receiver who searched for more advanced lessons and learned them from White, a former Georgia Tech wide receiver who played four seasons with the Chicago Bears before joining the Atlanta Falcons last year.

"I learned how to take off (from the line of scrimmage)," Fontanez said. "Coach White showed me how to use my hands to separate from the defensive back."

White, who signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Falcons in March of 2004, said he feels a responsibility as a professional athlete to give back to the community.

"Everybody sees the kids out here but they may or may not have parents in their life," White said. "We're just trying to help them fill that void and show them that people love them and care about them. That's the most important thing."
