PACK FANS BIVOUAC

GEORGIA TECH NEXT FOR STRUGGLING PACK

PAUL HEWITT ON ST.JOHNS

Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt, who is close to Roberts, said Roberts' familiarity with the landscape, where he was born, raised and played college basketball, has made the reclamation project easier.

"It takes a guy from New York to run that program," said Hewitt, a native of Long Island. "And Norm won a public school championship at Springfield Gardens (High School in Oceanside, N.Y.). He knows all those people. Because he's a New York guy, people will root for him."

MORE ABOUT CHRIS PAUL'S CELL PHONE

"College basketball has a different landscape," Prosser said. "These kids, they all know one another. After the game they may be on the cell phone with one another.

"The other night Chris told me he was on the cell phone to Jarrett Jack (of Georgia Tech) for an hour-and-a-half. That's a whole different dynamic."

CHANGE IN THE ACC
More on the changes with expansion, and this interesting comment:

Basketball accounts for 85 percent of all NCAA revenues, which partly explains how the NCAA can afford to let six powerful conferences control football as a loosely attached cartel.

ACC HOOPS MORE THAN JUST TRIANGLE
Paul Hewitt on the Duke / Carolina game:

"If somebody's doing well, yell it from the highest hill," Hewitt said. "If somebody's not, don't try to build it into something it's not."
