Hoops Notes

GT / UVA GAME CAPSULE

DETAILED UVA GAME NOTES

CAVS HEAD TO JACKETS NEST
UVA is a banged up team for sure, not likely to have their best player Devin Smith, as will as some nagging injuries to other key players (Brown / Singletary). But guess what - they're not alone. Just ask J.Smith's dislocated knee-cap, Elder's strained hamstring, Ish's ankle/tendonitis, Bynum's cramps, West's hip-pointer..... shall I go on?

UVA'S REYNOLDS SHOWS HIS ILL WILL

MORROW WANTS TO BE THE MAN AT GT
So Morrow and Bynum are roomies and best buds now. I like Coach Hewitt's quote - not sure if having Bynum as a role model is a good thing (joke).

MORROW & BYNUM TAKE TO EACH OTHER QUICKLY

FREE THROWS ARE KEY

You needn't look beyond Georgia Tech's Jarrett Jack, who helped beat Kansas in NCAA play last year with a 13-for-14 free-throw effort. He almost sparked another victory Sunday with a 10-for-12 wallop. KU posted a defeat-inviting 4-for-10 as a team.

STEPHON MARBURY - CONFIDENT OR COCKY?

"I know I'm the best point guard in the NBA. I don't need anybody else to tell me that," Marbury said.

The article basically says - Marbury is a great PG but Jeff McInnis is helping his team win - and that's what matters most. Hard to argue.

MIAMI HAS TO SUCK IT UP

ACC RACE UNPREDICTABLE

NCST IN ESPN'S "BOTTOM 10"

DOYEL'S TOP GAMES ON SATURDAY

No. 25 Virginia at No. 9 Georgia Tech: The Cavaliers (9-2, 0-1) were 1-7 on the road last season in league play, and their road reviews this season are mixed: barely beating Northwestern (without Michael Thompson), and losing at Iowa State. After getting past Miami on Thursday night, Georgia Tech (10-2, 2-1) will be playing its second game in 48 hours, probably again without No. 2 scorer B.J. Elder (hamstring).

HAMMONDS JR. MAKING A NAME FOR HIMSELF
The son of the GT star is stepping out.

Freshman Tom Hammonds will also look to continue his outstanding play on Saturday. Hammonds has scored 14 points in each of the past two games and currently ranks fourth on the team in scoring.

MORE MAKING FUN OF LUKE
I know people cannot resist. This UNC thread asks fans to compare Luke to someone. The "hilarity" ensues. Can't wait until we put the smack-down on those boys again this year.
